What we know so far
- The Sinulog 2027 Grand Parade is set for Jan. 17, 2027 at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), with the opening salvo on Jan. 7, Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) executive director Elmer "Jojo" Labella said. [1] [2] [3]
- The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño lists Fiesta Señor 2027 for January 7-17 (and 22), 2027, with the theme "Santo Niño: Shepherd of Humanity." A detailed Mass and procession schedule was not yet on the page. [1]
- Mayor Nestor Archival is overall chairman of Sinulog 2027 and Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña overall vice chairman; SFI president Pericles Dakay chairs the executive committee, which first met on Sept. 16, 2026. [1]
- Six working clusters run promotion, contests, presentations and shows, protocol and reception, social welfare, and logistics; a proposed advisory board would include the Provincial Government, the Catholic Church, police and military. Osmeña wants a stronger "village feel." [1]
- The Sinulog 2027 budget is not final. Sinulog 2026 got P78 million after the city cut P22 million from a planned P100 million for Typhoon Tino recovery; on Oct. 5 Archival said the city could spend about P100 million "or slightly less." [1] [2] [3]
- SFI is adding an on-the-spot painting contest on historical, religious and thematic elements of Sinulog. Several contingents have signified interest, including seven from the province's recent cultural festival; the city plans to send invitations to out-of-town contingents in October. [1] [2]
- A Sinulog Choreographer's Workshop is set for Oct. 17-18, 2026 at the CCSC; the P1,000 registration is mandatory for choreographers competing in Sinulog 2027. [1] [2]
- Fireworks are under review: Archival said he is "negative" on them because they are "very expensive" and "not sustainable," but no decision has been made. [1]
- The Cebu City Police Office has started security planning for Fiesta Señor and Sinulog 2027, adjusting plans weekly. In 2026 more than 6,500 uniformed personnel were deployed, including 2,816 PNP; Archival said police could rise from about 3,000 to 4,000 if contingents increase. [1] [2]
- Sinulog 2026 results: first-time entry Tagbilaran City (Bohol) won the Sinulog-based Ritual Showdown; Toledo City won Free Interpretation and Best in Street Dancing. Ritual Showdown champions received P3 million. [1] [2] [3]
- The Sinulog 2026 Grand Parade on Jan. 18 drew an estimated 5.2 million people (Cebu City DRRM Office), with 37 competing contingents and three guest performers; 152 minor injuries and no major incidents were reported, and it ended before 8 p.m. for the first time. [1] [2] [3]
- Fiesta Señor 2026 crowds: more than 240,000 joined the Walk with Jesus on Jan. 8, and an estimated 1.9 million joined the solemn foot procession on Jan. 17 (1.4 million in 2025); no crime was recorded during the fluvial parade. [1] [2] [3]
- Stefanie Przewodnik of Asturias was crowned Sinulog Festival Queen 2026 on Jan. 16 at the CCSC, out of 19 candidates. [1]
- Tourism in 2026: Cebu City hotels were up to 90% booked for the Sinulog weekend (HRRAC), and Mactan-Cebu International Airport handled a record 1.3 million passengers in January 2026, up 15%, which the airport operator partly credited to Sinulog travel. No 2027 booking figures have been reported yet. [1] [2]
- The Mandaue City Council asked the Archdiocese and the Basilica to restore the traditional fluvial procession route for 2027; the Basilica said the 2026 route was chosen for safety because the waters near Mandaue's viewing decks are shallow. [1]
