Pilmico, an Aboitiz Foods company, will build a feedmill at West Cebu Estate in Balamban, Cebu, after signing on as the industrial estate's newest locator, Philstar reported. The first phase is expected to start operating in 2028 and will serve customers in the Visayas and Mindanao. The 540-hectare estate, anchored by shipbuilding, hosts 14 locators and has generated more than 14,000 jobs, according to Philstar.
Cebu Pacific is offering one-way base fares from P10 to all its destinations in a 10.10 seat sale running October 8 to 11, GMA News reported; fees and surcharges are not included. The fares are for travel from February 1 to June 30, 2027. Manila Standard reported that the P10 fares include flights to Japan and Vietnam, while Inquirer described it as a four-day sale.
The Cebu Provincial School Board approved a P51.6-million supplemental budget for the Department of Education's Cebu Province division on October 6, SunStar reported. P20 million will go to temporary learning shelters in Cordova and Danao City, and P22 million to the 44 local governments joining a second provincial sports meet in December. Superintendent Senen Priscilo Paulin said changes to the school calendar made the second meet necessary.
Cebu Province is proposing a P15.3-billion Annual Investment Program for 2027, up 29 percent from this year, with water and food security and disaster readiness as priorities ahead of an expected Super El Niรฑo, The Manila Times reported. The Provincial Development Council approved it on October 5. Water programs would get about P300 million, the Food Security Program P414.824 million, and hospitals P772.626 million from the Development Fund.
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival confirmed that City Administrator Albert Tan has resigned amid an investigation into complaints involving the city's Bids and Awards Committee, SunStar Superbalita reported. Tan submitted his letter on Monday, Oct. 5, after 15 months in the post. City Attorney Briccio Boholst, acting city administrator since Sept. 18, is set to take the post, according to Cebu Daily News.
