Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 arrested a couple in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City, on September 30 for allegedly offering foreign clients paid video calls in which their five-year-old child was sexually abused, SunStar reported. The child was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7. The couple faces non-bailable charges under laws against online child sexual abuse and human trafficking.
The PPP Center of the Philippines and the Lapu-Lapu City government signed a memorandum of agreement on September 24 so the center can help the city identify and screen projects under public-private partnerships (PPPs), BusinessWorld reported. The center will give advisory services, technical assistance and training, while the city will set up a PPP unit. Mayor Ma. Cynthia K. Chan said the projects must serve the city's communities.
