Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief Police Colonel Ricky Sumalde ordered desk officers at all 13 police stations in the city to treat everyone seeking help as a Very Important Person (VIP), SunStar reported. Deputy city director Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare said Sumalde had received complaints about how desk officers treated people. Officers who fail to comply will be investigated and may face administrative charges.
The Visayas grid could see more red alerts in 2027 if ancillary services agreements for 250 megawatts of power reserves are not secured, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said at a summit in Cebu, Rappler reported. Modern jeepneys in Cebu will receive a P20,000 financial subsidy, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region VII said on Tuesday, GMA News reported. The aid will run for three months, and only cooperatives under the Public Transportation Modernization Program qualify. Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu is reviewing the case of a nurse whose Threads post, in which she allegedly said she would not change patients' diapers, drew criticism online, Interaksyon reported. In an October 9 statement, the hospital said the post does not reflect the standards it expects and that the matter is going through internal processes. Fellow nurses replied online that patient hygiene is part of the job.
