The Department of Health-run hospital said the rule prevents overcrowding and keeps care safe. It said a new building under construction will have a ground-floor area for watchers of Emergency Room patients.

Face-to-face classes at all levels in public and private schools in Cebu City are suspended on Monday, October 12, after the city's Air Quality Index rose to a very unhealthy level, Cebu Daily News reported. Several other local governments in Metro Cebu also suspended in-person classes for the day because of poor air quality, according to the Inquirer.
About 41 kilograms of suspected shabu worth an estimated P278.8 million were seized from a motorcycle taxi driver in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, on Sunday morning, GMA News reported. The suspect, alias Erwin, 30, lives in Barangay Basak Pardo. GMA News said it is the largest shabu seizure in Central Visayas since 2016. He faces charges under Republic Act 9165.
A landslide in Barangay Pulangbato, Cebu City, killed a grandmother and her two grandchildren, both 5 years old, GMA News reported. The mother of one of the children survived. The barangay captain said a crack on the mountain, possibly caused by the magnitude 6.5 earthquake in September 2025, is being looked at as a cause. About 75 families were evacuated, and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau barred them from returning for a month.
